The Algerian Organizing Committee appointed by the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital reform is responsible for the organization of all local arrangements for the Conference of Algiers.

According to the general needs, four sub-committees have been set up. They are to co-ordinate all the measures taken at the local level for the conference and report them to the Local Organizing Committee. Each sub-committee will have its terms of reference with a detailed list of tasks and responsibilities. These four sub-committees are defined as follows:

a.    Communication Sub-Committee

b.    Housing, transport & Catering Sub-Committee

c.    Security and Accreditation Sub-Committee

d.    Scientific Sub-Committee

 

COMMUNICATION SUB-COMMITTEE

A Communication and Exhibitions Sub- Committee has been set up.  It is supervised by MOH adviser in charge of communication and includes communication experts of the Regional office, among others. To ensure wide coverage of the conference through the publication of its bulletin, an Internet site has been created and updated. 

The key tasks of the Sub-Committee will include the following:

a.    Definition, implementation and co-ordination of the communication strategy;

b.    Setting up and operation of the Site of Algiers 2008 Conference;

c.    Management of the Media Centre;

d.    Booking, preparation and management of Conference Centre;

e.    Printing of Conference material;

f.     Translation of documents;

g.    Co-ordination of Conference media events;

h.    Co-ordination of the launching of the regional report at the regional and international levels, during the conference;

i.      Recruiting of local conference staff;

j.      Office infrastructure. 

 

HOUSING,TRANSPORT & CATERING SUB-COMMITTEE

A Housing, Transport and Catering Sub-Committee has been set up. It is supervised by the deputy director in charge of contracting and its main tasks will include ensuring the housing and catering for all participants and booking their return tickets.

 

SECURITY AND ACCREDITATION SUB-COMMITTEE

A Security and Accreditation Sub-Committee has been set up. It is supervised by the Adviser in charge of external relations and cooperation and its main tasks will include:

a.    facilitating visa arrangements

b.    ensuring accreditation formalities

c.    Organizing the various ceremonies

d.    Managing the meeting protocol

e.    Ensuring security for the participants throughout the conference. 

f.     Managing welcome desks in the airport.

A Scientific Sub-Committee has been set up. It is supervised by the Adviser in charge of research with MOH and its ain tasks will include:

a.  Peparing the working document and other documentation intended for the conference, including the draft and final versions of the program, reports and working papers;

b.  Preparing the draft and final versions of the program and the reports;
