Algiers, June 23–26, 2008


 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE


1-  The 2008 Algiers Ministerial Conference on Research for Health in the African Region will be held from 23 to 26 June 2008 at Palais des Nations –Club des Pins - Algiers, Algeria. It will be preceded by the 4th Meeting of the  Steering  Committee on 20 and 21June, 2008 at Sheraton Hotel Algiers.

2- The experts working session  will be held from 23 to 25 June 2008 at the Palais des Nations- Clud des Pins- Algiers. The plenary session of the Ministerial Conference will take place on Thursday 26 June 2008 at the conference hall of Palais des Nations –Club des Pins. The official opening of the plenary session is to take place the same day at 08.30 am.  

3-The working languages of the 2008 Algiers Ministerial Conference on Research for Health in the African Region are English, French and Portuguese.    

4- The Algerian government will arrange and cover the expenses of the receptions offered to the particpants, the opening ceremony, the closing banquet, the local transport, the reception of participants upon their arrival, the protocole and security, the accomodation and catering of the ministers and other dignitaries, the use of the conference and press centers, the computer and audio-visual equipment, the access to the internet at the conference site, the printing, reproduction and translation of documents and the interpretation.   

5- The delegations and other participants to the conference are expected to arrive at Houari Boumedienne International airport as from 21 June 2008.   

A regular shuttle service will be available from the airport to the places where the particpants will be accomodated at their own expenses (except the ministers and other dignitaries) in one one of the hotels selected by the organizing committee.

6-  Item 14 contains the necessary information regarding in particular the conditions of accomodation (Hotels, prices, reservations).   

Medical coverage will be provided in the different work and accomodation sites till the end of the conference.

7- The participants will bear their own international travel expenses. The delegates of United Nations institutions (inluding WHO) and those from outside the African region are invited to bear the cost of their accomodation and meals outside the meals offered from 23rd to 26th June, 2008.

8- The delegates arriving in regular flights shall notify beforehand the Conference organization secretariat Secretariat when filling the accreditation form.

Team from Conference organization secretariat will be operation at the airport from 21 June 2008 and will be in charge of the matters relating to the arriva land departures of delegates.

9- The participants, delegates, members of official and technical suites, International Organizations representatives as well as all personalities and the participants invited to take part in the meetings scheduled, should have badges with their names to allow them to have access to meetings, accommodation and catering sites as well as to the provided means of transportation. 

10- The Algerian Embassies in the concerned Countries will facilitate the issue of visa to the participants.

In case there is no Algerian Embassy, it is recommended to forward in advance the necessary information (flight, passport number...) to the Conference secretariat  in order to facilitate the issue of visa at their arrival  to Algiers.

11- The Algerian Government will make available one ministerial car and one security vehicle to each delegation led by a Minister.

12- A regular shuttle service will be provided for the delegates since their arrival at Houari Boumediene Airport and between the places of accomodation (Hotels of Sheraton, Emir, Safir Mazafran, Relax) and the conference site, until their departure

13- Journalists (including cameramen, photographers and other media members) have to obtain an accreditation to be allowed to cover the conference activities. The form intended to this regard, available at the present website of the Conference should be returned to the Conference Organization Secretariat. 

A Press Centre, with all the necessary facilities, will be set up at the Palais des Nations. 

The media members will have access to the Conference plenary sessions to cover the opening and closing ceremonies and the press conference scheduled.

14-  Night-time tariffs of accommodation proposed to the participants are :

- Suites : 15 100 DA (Junior), 18 100 DA (Executive), 23 000 DA (Safir)

- Single room: 7200 D.A.

- Double room: 9500 D.A

- Single room: 6 000 DA

- Double room: 7 500 DA

             

Emir  Hotel (****) : (Breakfast included) :

- Single room: 5 912 DA

- Double room: 6 503 DA

-Suite : from 7 000 DA to 12 000 DA                                        

                                                                     

Exchange rate (02 March 2008) :

-  1 Euro = 98,24 D.A. ( Algerian Dinar)

     -  1 Dollar U.S. = 65, 33 D.A.

 

The participants to the Conference may proceed to the booking of the rooms, at their expenses, by returning the accreditation form, duly filled, to the Conference organization secretariat at the latest on 30 April 2007.
