STEERING COMMITTEE
CONFERENCE PROGRAM
It may be too early at this stage to describe in detail the conference programme not the themes and topics. It is however be useful to decide on major themes that could be refined at a later stage through a regional consultation process. A proposal is shown on table 4. The morning of the Monday June 23 will be devoted to the opening session. The afternoon session and the rest of the two days of the technical meetings could be devoted to the discussion of
1) the governance/stewardship of research (including ethical oversight);
2) financing of research;
3) human resources for research, including its infrastructure such as health information systems;
4) the nature and type of research outputs; and
5) the management of knowledge generated from research, including the use of research for policy and action.
